9 Days late but worth the wait!

Only moments old
Some very happy boys
One excited Daddy!
Weighing him
Our midwives
About 1 hour old
Our baby boy finally arrived last night...finally. My contractions started at about 3:30 pm to be noticable, our midwife arrived at 4:10 pm to see how I was progressing...4 cm. She left and was back an hour later and he was born at 7:48 PM! Very quick...3 1/2 hours. After having 2 very long births I was so happy to have it quick..that is the way it should be!

His name is McKenon Riley Boyd. He weighed in at 9 pounds 2 ounces and is 23 inches long! He has dark hair and I can't tell if his eyes are brown or blue as they are pretty swollen still.

Here are some pictures from right after he was born. I will post more today with family. My mom, sister, and 2 neices Madeline and Hannah were present for the birth, and of course Drew my amazing support! The boys came in right after.

A little update...

I know everyone is waiting patiently so I thought I would give a little update. I went to see my midwife this morning. I am currently almost a week late...and am very ready. Everything looks really good-the baby is doing great. He is still measuring 37 weeks about 8.5 pounds (this is by touch not ultrasound). I am still 3 cm dilated, and he is in the perfect position for birth. So what does all this mean? Absolutely nothing! It could be anytime, any second or over a week. I had contractions all day yesterday picking up in the afternoon, but then they stopped around 7 pm. Tomorrow I have a Non-stress test which will be fine and Drew and I are going on a date tomorrow night...I am hoping we can cancel because we have a baby coming. Basically, if all the tests are okay my midwife will allow me to go 2 weeks over. So....here I sit trying to be patient! Keep your fingers crossed for me that this will happen soon!

A lady in waiting...

This morning when I looked out the window and it was still dark I really felt the full moon was teasing me. Even it will not encourage this stubborn boy to come out. I'm a little discouraged, but I know from experience these boys just don't like to greet the world (can't really blame them). I am holding up okay but am really grumpy at times. Patient is something I have never been so this once again is a good lesson for me.

I wanted to wish everyone a happy holiday season. I don't know about your kids but mine are really looking forward to Santa visiting tonight. They spotted Rudolf and Santa making a test flight last Friday. They are excited to put out the cookies they made from him. I'm looking forward to completely blowing my low-carb diet tonight and tomorrow...doesn't really matter he is already very large (the baby...okay me too). Have fun eating, visiting with family and enjoying the season! I hopefully will have fun birthing over the next few days??!!!

Still waiting...

For everyone who is wondering about the baby, he has not come. We have tried everything naturally so now we just sit and wait...again. I would be surprised if he comes before his due date which is Friday. He is getting very big now...the midwife thinks he is around 8 1/2 to 9 pounds. I have sort of resigned myself to him being late and just hope to have him by the new year. I am 3 cm dilated, but as you all know that doesn't mean anything. So...if you don't see me at social events it is because I just don't feel like getting out, but I will let everyone know ASAP when he comes. All for now...got to go wallow! I would love any encouraging comments!

Happy 6th (almost) to Lachlan

We decided to have Lachlan's birthday early this year because of the baby (his actual b-day is the 29th). So last night we had quite a party. It was so fun. Lachlan wants to be a pilot so we did a jet plane cake for him. He just loved it. Drew and I had so much fun too. He got some great presents. I haven't heard a peep out of the boys all morning they are so busy playing with the new stuff. This afternoon he is going to test out the new bike...I think I will jog to try to get this baby to come!
The cake says "Air Lach" with a "6" on each wing.

A sad day...

Late last night Drew's Grandfather passed away. He hadn't been well for the last few months. Drew was very close to him, and this is a big loss for him and his family. Drew spent every summer of his childhood into his teen years with his grandparents and had many adventures with his Grandpa. Saturday we saw him and he responded to us and the boys and Sunday we also got to see him and he knew we were there. The boys will miss their Boy GG (great grandpa)and so will we! Please think of Drew today...

Beach picnic!

Today we headed out for a little hike and picnic. The weather was beautiful but about 30 degrees! This is one of our favorite spots to visit and I have posted a lot of pictures from this area. This is Bowman Bay and the pier seen in the pictures below is where Drew proposed to me so we have a lot of memories here.

I am feeling good; loads of contractions. I saw the midwife Tuesday and she could not believe how the baby has dropped...I am feeling it as I can't even cross my legs. Less than 2 weeks until my due date...anytime would be fine!

We had our lunch on this rock...complete with hot cocoa!

Cookies for Santa!

Today we spent the entire afternoon making cookies for Santa. Okay, they aren't all for Santa-some are for our neighbors, Lachlan's teacher and family. I had forgotten how time consuming it is to do this...baking, icing, frosting, sprinkles, cleaning up the kitchen and the boys...chocolate chip cookies are so much easier! I was on my feet for over 2 hours...poor me :). It was so cute though because the boys kept saying over and over "Santa is going to love these cookies".

The finished product!

Way to Go Lachlan!

Lachlan got a great award from school. He thought he wasn't suppose to take it home so it is from October, but we are so proud of him! He is doing so well. It is moments like these and when they receive their report cards (yesterday and it was outstanding) where you just say to yourself "all this hard work is paying off". Of course, the hard work never seems to end but at least we see results! Here is a picture of his award...for responsibility!

Fire and Snow

Fire and snow

Madeline, Hannah, Lachlan and Landon. The kids played out from 8:30 AM until 2:45 PM!

Well today was our first official day of burning. It was freezing all day and snowing part of it. The wind picked up late this afternoon so we had to shut things down tonight. We were hoping to add to the piles all night long. The fire warden here is very difficult to deal with so we don't want to risk a fine. The fires will keep burning probably until tomorrow afternoon/evening because they are so big. Things look so much better already. We had a lot of help too...thanks everyone!

Full Term!

Well, I am officially considered "full term" as of today! 37 weeks...3 weeks until my due date, but he could come anytime and be just fine. I know he won't come for a while but a girl can wish can't she?

I saw the midwife on Tuesday. Drew was with me which was really fun. This being our 3rd he has gone to no appointments with me (except the ultrasound) so it was fun for him to ask some questions, listen to his heartbeat etc. I am 1 cm dilated, he is very low in my pelvis and he is in the perfect position for birth (of course he could decide to shift). He is also measuring small...around 6 lbs right now! This is very good news for me...the diet is paying off. We are anticipating an 8 lb bouncing baby boy if he is near his due date. Okay, both Lachlan and Cohen were late so he probably will be too...once again I can wish. You all know I won't be induced so hopefully he will be here before the New Year.

I have been in planning/nesting mode for weeks now. I've got all his clothes washed and all the gear out and ready. I have all my holiday cards ready to go next week. I bought all of the stuff I need for Lachlan's birthday party. I have all my packages wrapped for Christmas presents. I've got all Lach's birthday gifts wrapped. I have been baking Christmas cookies to give too. I have also been cleaning out closets, organizing and driving Drew a little crazy with jobs I need him to do. I just know I won't be doing a lot of anything except kiddos for the next few months...one thing I haven't got to is my outside windows...I have good intentions just can't get the energy.

Still exercising although the aches and pains are getting a little worse at times. The pelvis muscles are just really not enjoying anything extra right now...walks are about all I can handle. My hips feel double jointed...midwife says with the 3rd it is always worse. I have a lot of contractions on and off especially when I exercise. I welcome these knowing that it will eventually be the real thing.

I just thought I would give a little update. Expect one each week now until he is born...hope ya don't mind. Here are a couple pictures too of this big pregnant lady!

Miscellaneous photos

This picture was taken when my Mom and Sis took me to Bellevue for a little shopping and a night away! We shopped til we dropped and had a really relaxing fun time. Thank you two so much for making my birthday special (not until next month so no one needs to say "happy birthday" yet).

These were taken recently when we went out to Anacortes for a walk and some park play time. As you can see Drew and I played too. They have the best toys at Washington Park, not to mention beautiful scenery even on a cold fall day.

Please excuse the belly...it seems to be sticking out a lot these days!

Thanksgiving Day

We had such a nice Thanksgiving. It started with a visit to Donna and Terry's house to see all of their "kids". Terry has built a Jeep track for RC Jeeps and the boys were SO excited. I think we need some now!

After our little visit we headed to my parents for a feast! It was such a beautiful day yesterday. First sunny Thanksgiving in a long time. The kids were able to play outside most of the day. After stuffing outselves silly we took the kids for a bike ride. It was cold but just gorgeous.

Friends visit from far away

My Japanese sister, Hiroyo, and her husband Hideto and their sons Kaito and Gohta (their oldest son Rintaro had to stay home and go to schoool) came to see our family this week. They were in Florida for a conference and traveled all the way to Washington just to see us! They only stayed for four days, but we had such a nice time catching up! We will miss them when they leave tomorrow. Thank you for the visit!
