Update on baby...

Well, I am now in my 7th month-28 weeks! It is so hard to believe. 12 weeks seems a long way off in some ways and really short when you think about the past 28. I saw our midwife the other day. All is well. The little toot was so active she couldn't get a great reading on the fundal height but she estimated about 28-29 weeks. Which is really good considering with Cohen I was measuring 3 weeks ahead...we are hoping this guy is smaller. I see her again in 2 weeks for another check on how big. I am working so hard trying not to eat much with carbohydrates that I really hope it pays off...because I am always hungry! I've gained a nice 10 pounds so far which is very good I think. I think it will be around 20 for the whole pregnancy. I'll try to post a belly shot soon.

Sleeping has been a little difficult...I know it is only the beginning of a long 12 weeks. I just get horrible insomnia and then the baby gets really active, and I can't get comfortable. Oh well...the joys of pregnancy. I enjoy a 15 minute nap every afternoon!

Drew works tomorrow so I am hoping to go visit his grandparents. His grandfather has pancreatic cancer and they are having a hard time. A meal and a visit from the boys might help. Drew is off Monday, and he will be spending the day cutting wood and cleaning this place up...that might take years, but the view is so beautiful it is worth all the work (I don't know if he agrees...but since I don't have to do much work I do).

Hope everyone has a wonderful weekend!

What a view!

Lachlan operating the excavator!

Things are really coming along here at our house. Most of the trees that are marketable are down, and when that is done the clearing will begin (removing all the blackberries and vine maples). They did loads of work today and here are the results, although the pictures really don't show you how truely beautiful our view is. I added "before" pictures and pictures of Lachlan's turn on the excavator.

Cohen is 3!

Construction boy!
New backpack from Great Grandma and Grandpa!
Castle from Mommy and Daddy.
Hitachi 003!
Grandma and Grandpa.
Dirt and worms.

I'm 3!

Cohen will turn 3 on Wednesday (the 26th), and we had his party today. It turned out really fun and the weather was cool but beautiful. We had a wonderful meal of salmon (thanks Mike & Kaar for providing that), savory rice (thanks Mom), jello salad (always a hit Kaar) and green salad (thanks Cathie). Cohen's cake took a little while to make but it turned out really fun. I created it to match the excavator that is here working on our property. The brown stuff below the excavator is dirt (cake) and worms (gummy worms). This was a huge hit with the kids. They all wanted dirt and worms with their pieces of cake! He received loads of toys too. I can't believe he is 3! Here are a lot of pictures (I couldn't help but post all these):

A sort-of funny story

Shortly after I posted the last post the boys and I headed out for our walk. Lachlan riding his bike and me pushing the stroller with Cohen in it. We have quite a few hills around our house and Lachlan loves to push the limits with his bike. Thankfully, we do not have many cars. We started to go down one of the many hills and Lach was speeding along with me calling "watch for cars." Well I should have said "watch for mailboxes." He turned his head going extremely fast and ran SMACK right into a mailbox...dead center. I didn't see it happen but I heard him crying, and I started running...pregnant woman running as fast as she could pushing a stroller. He BROKE the mailbox right off the post and it was nailed on! Mail was everywhere with the mailbox about 5 feet away from the post. Once I figured out nothing was broken on him I went to tell the homeowners. No one home so Drew said he would do it later. Both Lach's hands are hurt, but I think his pride is hurt more. I am just so glad it wasn't a car he hit. Thinking about it actually makes me chuckle...am I a horrible mother?

Clearly the happiest of all boys!

For those of you who don't know we are clearing our land. This is very exciting for a number of reasons. The first being that we have waited over a year to start, and the second because the boys are absolutely so happy to have all this equipment here at our house. We have about 3-4 acres that need to be cleared, and I can't wait to show you our view after it is all done. I have taken "before" pictures and will post them with the "after" pictures.

Today, Russell the equipment operator gave the boys a ride on the excavator. I missed getting pictures of Lachlan but if it isn't raining tomorrow he will have a turn again (and I will post again). Russell knows the minds of little boys because he has two grandsons the same age...not to mention he is just a nice guy! Cohen was SO excited to get a ride! Here are some pictures:

Can you see the smile? He is actually working the controls!

One load gone...hopefully many more to go!

A little outing...

Our dog, Jacson 10 years old

Drew had Monday off so we went out to North Beach for the afternoon. We took the kids' bikes and they biked the trails. We walked all around the park. It was a little cool (fall is definitely in the air) but beautiful. Then we had dinner in Anacortes and headed home. It is so nice to live so close to the beautiful water and all the recreation. What a nice start to the week!

Field Potluck

We had such a wonderful time at the potluck in Lynden last Friday night. Thanks go to Rob and Christina for planning such great place and getting us all together. The food was wonderful and the fellowship was so nice! It was definitely worth the hour drive for us!

Off to kindergarten!

Lachlan's first day of school was today. Today I actually went with him and we had a little orientation and potluck. It was nice to meet the parents and students. I think he is going to have a really great year, and his teacher seems wonderful. I am looking forward to volunteering as well.

Thanks David and Nicole!

Our host and hostess.

We had the most wonderful meal at our friends house last night. They invited us along with 10 other couples to a "night out". We left the boys with Mom and Dad for the night and off we went. They live on Lake Sammish and it was a wonderful evening. The dinner was by candlelight, we chose from a menu and the food was absolutely wonderful! It was a rotating meal so at every course we changed seats...we moved 5 times! Appetizers (2), salad, entree and dessert...it was so good. Great fellowship too. Thanks so much you guys we owe you big time!

Beautiful September Day

A couple monkeys!
Beautiful view of Burrows Channel.

We went out to Washington Park yesterday to enjoy what is left of summer. It was just gorgous. We took a 2.5 mile walk then had our lunch on the beach, and the boys played. What a blast!

Labor Day activities

We really didn't do too much this weekend. Drew had to work Saturday which was the nicest day, but Sunday and Monday ended up being warm with clouds. Sunday we went to meeting then did a bunch of cleaning of the garage and storing of things in the shop. Then Sunday night we went to Drew's stepfather's birthday party. It was fun to get together, but I forgot the camera.

6 months pregnant!

Monday we decided to head to the beach for a picnic and hike. We had a great time.
Last night we decided very spur of the moment to have Kaaran, Mike and 2 of their kiddos over for a BBQ. Great food of burgers, caesar salad, jello salad, corn out of the garden, and grilled veggies and great fun. We even had a fire in the firepit.
