Weekend at the Island

I went up to Orcas on Friday morning. It was a beautiful day so I mowed the lawn and played with the boys on the beach. We picked Drew up in the evening. The next morning David and Nicole were coming up to visit us for a night so we got ready and went to start the Island Van (an old '86 Astro) and she wasn't running too good. Drew knew the alternator was going out so we made a very fast trip to the ferry, and we were very lucky we made it. We picked them up then went looking for a part for the van. Of course, on the island it would take about 4 days to get the part so we headed back to the cabin knowing that the van wouldn't start again. We were so disappointed because Dave and Nicole had never been on Orcas and we wanted to show them around! Well, we decided to walk to town so at least they could see that part of the Orcas. So that was fun and we definitely got our exercise-6 miles RT. When we got back we had some lunch and Drew decided he would ask our neighbors Mike and Mary if she was going to town could she buy us some ice cream? Well, she said "why don't you take our van?" so we got to use their van the rest of the day! We headed up to Cascade Lake and did a little hiking. So again, more exercise! Then we made a wonderful meal and we put the kids to bed early. We were tired too but we stayed up visiting until late. It ended up being a really fun weekend. The weather wasn't great, but we made the most of it! Yesterday as we were leaving we tried starting up Old blue but no luck. So we used our neighbors van to get to the ferry and Drew is going to go back up tomorrow night and get the van fixed. All and all it turned out fun.
